Keeping Up with Boracay Energy: New Coffee Spots You Should Try on the Island
Share
You will never get bored in Boracay. A lot is going on from sunrise to sunset and beyond. More than the world-famous white sand, the island is also synonymous with water activities and nightlife. It will be action-packed with water activities first before transforming White Beach into a barhopping paradise.

Boracay is a tried-and-tested destination for adventurers and fun-seeking nocturnals, but what about tourists who like their days light, smooth, balanced, scrupulous, and still keep them up?
Here are new coffee shops and cafés that are worth your precious time while in one of the beautiful resort islands in the world:
Calma Café & Restaurant
Bolabog Beach, Balabag | Open daily from 6 AM

A kilometer away from the eminence of White Beach lies a spot that promises some respite from the swarm of tourists, an ideal spot to slow down after hours in the Boracay crowd or to nurse a hangover from last night’s clubbing. True to its name, Calma seems built on the foundations of calm and serenity, with tables set beneath the trees, next to a rock, and overlooking Bolabog Beach.

Sanka's UNDER THE SUN Unisex Tee
Available onsite, on Shopee, and at Wanderskye Islands Boracay

If the al fresco dining among nature isn’t enough (though I doubt it), on the other side, they have lounge seating for intimate conversations with friends and suspended net beds, freeing nooks for readers.

We recommend their shakshoukas and Spanish latte.
Season Coffee
White Beach, Station 2 | Open daily from 7 AM

One of the newcomers to the island’s coffee scene is Season Coffee, which is already iconic for its grayscale interiors (so Instagrammable) and its panorama of the beach and the coconut trees from its folding wall-to-wall windows (even more Instagrammable!). That’s why the perfect time to go is at sunset, and the perfect spot is, of course, the window table.

The Shrimp Aglio Olio, despite its striking spiciness, was worshipped by our friends. The Banana Pudding Matcha is a bestseller for a reason, the hot Spanish Latte is tailor-made for millennials—not too sweet, and the Oat Iced Matcha Latte is a gift for matcha lovers.

Just this month, they opened their second branch in Manila.
Smooth Boracay Cafe, Restaurant & Lounge
White Beach, Station 1 | Open daily from 7 AM

Behind the black door seen swiveling next to the main road is the newly reopened Smooth Boracay Cafe, Restaurant & Lounge. We came at lunchtime, straight to our tables, with a live saxophone welcoming us, which went on till our last sip and bite. So smooth! We left just as the DJ started his sesh into sunset.
Our friends never shut up about the Smoked Salmon Rolls, and we all agreed the iced Spanish Latte was the best drink on our table. The café also caters to plant-based eaters, and the tasty Vegan Pulled “Pork” Sandwich is personally recommended.

More seats are available upstairs on an air-conditioned floor with glass walls for an unhampered view of the beach.

If you’re looking for another option that offers great food and seats you in front of the Sulu Sea that co-creates one of the best sunsets in the country, choose Smooth. This is not coming from a smooth tongue.
Other honorable mentions:
Agahon Café (formerly Kalmado Café)
Balabag | Open daily from 7 AM

Another spot away from the crowd of White Beach is Agahon Café by Canvas Inn. Complete the homey experience with their Cinnamon Oat Latte.

Bluefin Specialty Coffee & Brunch
Balabag | Open daily from 8 AM
For the true coffee connoisseurs, Bluefin is an extraordinary trip on an island more known for the other variant of refreshment. I had the Brazil Cerrado drip—“raising the standard of coffee in Boracay”, indeed. Fun fact: Bluefin was named after their toy poodles, Blue and Fin.

Boracay’s energy could either be overwhelming or infectious. Still, it’s always a great idea to slow down a bit and look at the island from a different angle and pace with a cup of Americano or a matcha latte beside you. Either that or have your energy reboosted to keep up with Boracay. ❜
